Egypt, Dubai sign agreement for beet sugar initiative


(MENAFN) A deal between Dubai-based Al Khaleej Sugar Refinery and Egypt has been signed for the constructional of an agro-industrial complex to manufacture beet sugar.

The Canal Sugar project is to be placed merely 125 miles away from its customers' market, as declared by the refinery's managing director Jamal al-Ghurair.

Egypt is ought to turn into a self-sufficient country in the production of sugar, the project's chief executive Islam Salem insisted during an industrial conference held in Dubai.
