DLC commence new food testing for products quality
(MENAFN) Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) has reportedly begun three new trials to verify the quality of food products coming into the market.
The DCL, which functions under the Dubai Municipality, will center attention on three things - products' validity, probing commercial fraud in fresh and cooked meat and detection of bacterial pathogens, reported state news agency Wam, citing a senior official.
In a report, the food and environment laboratories section chief Maha Al Hajri explained that the testing is made using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (Elisa) technique; which additionally delivers the service of discovery of bacterial pathogens such as salmonella, listeria monocytogenes and E coli O157 using 3M molecular detection system for rapid and specific detection showing results within 42 hours.
