Jordan calls for Arab efforts to safeguard Jerusalem


(MENAFN) Following U.S. President Donald Trump decision of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, King Abdullah II of Jordan called for strengthened Arab efforts to support the Palestinians in their struggle.

This was said after the gathering of several Arab foreign ministers, pointing that there is a need for more efforts to support the rights of the Palestinians in protecting their legal and historic rights in Jerusalem and in forming their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The king also emphasized the need for supporting the Jerusalemites and defending the Arabic identity of the city as well as the holy Islamic and Christian sites.

He also underlined the role of Jordan as it will continue to defense the holy sites in the city.
