UAE- Fatima bint Mubarak receives UN Women Executive Director

ABU DHABI, 4th December, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, has received Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women.

The UN official congratulated Sheikha Fatima on the occasion of the UAE's 46th National Day, and discussed with her a number of issues related to women.

During the meeting, which was held yesterday, the parties discussed the plan of the UN Women Liaison Office for the GCC in Abu Dhabi during 2018, as well as focusing on the need to highlight the country's role in supporting UAE women in all areas and exchange experiences with the UN.

The executive director praised the prominent role played by Sheikha Fatima in supporting women in the UAE and globally, and said that through the office's plan they will focus on empowering women economically, politically, among other fields, and the importance of women's role in peace and security.

The meeting was attended by Noura Al Suwaidi, GWU Director-General, Reem Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and a number of Sheikhas.
