CEO of Uber tells the truth about the data breach
(MENAFN) Uber's chief has given details about the personal information theft of 57m customers, after it fired its chief security officer for covering the data violation.
The CEO has confessed on the official website of the company that last year, two hackers hacked a third-party cloud-based system with the private information of its customers.
He also confessed that other sensitive data was downloaded illegally, although he said there was no proof to show that main personal info like customers' credit card, bank account and social security numbers were stolen and misused.
"We have to be honest and transparent as we work to repair our past mistakes, none of this should have happened, and I will not make excuses for it." He said.
