US proposal upsets Mexico

(MENAFN) According to Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo, the country has abolished an offer by the US to add provisions in the North America Free Trade Agreement that would benefit AT&T Inc.

Guajardo said: "AT&T, which is North American, asked its government to reflect its interests in the negotiation, you cannot have an agreement... that gives a tailor's cut, a perfect handiwork, to a specific company."

In October's round of talks, the US suggested incorporating Mexico's landmark telecommunications improvement into a NAFTA provision that would only affect Mexico.

Mexico's 2013-14 telecommunications improvements intended to adjourn the control of the telecommunications company America Movil.
