(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- All budding artistes and Aladdin fans wishing to make it big in Hollywood have a chance of their lifetime as an Abu Dhabi-based company is in Muscat to audition for the roles of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine.
Pyramedia Group from UAE is responsible for the casting of the lead roles for the upcoming Hollywood Aladdin movie. The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture.
The animated classic is getting a remake with live-action treatment, following in the footsteps of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. The media production and consulting company Pyramedia Group which has a casting arm PyraStars is auditioning talent from all across the Arab world. A team from the company auditioned several candidates in Muscat on Tuesday and will be seeing more actors on Wednesday.
An official from the company told Muscat Daily that a fairly good turnout was seen on Tuesday. 'We have completed auditions in Egypt, Jordan, Dubai and Abu Dhabi for the lead characters,' he said. Although the casting is open to all nationalities but the original call by Disney was for Middle Eastern actors. The official said that all that is required of an actor is that he/she should between 18-25 years and be fluent in English.
'Special acting and singing skills are also required,' he added. Dr Nashwa al Ruwaini, CEO of Pyramedia Group is one of the casting directors for the Hollywood production. In a statement Dr Nashwa said, 'It is a great honour for Pyramedia Group and me to be able to play a pivotal role in finding the lead characters of the upcoming Aladdin movie for director Guy Ritchie. We will be holding auditions for potential candidates from several countries in the Arab world to ensure that we find the right talent and fit for the leading roles of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine.'
She added that the Arab world has a vast pool of talent from which she hopes the lead characters will be selected from and that it is a great opportunity for young actors from the Middle East to be part of a huge Hollywood production.
She also said that she is pleased to be part of this project that will enable local talents to be discovered globally. Pyramedia Group has cast characters and consulted for other Hollywood productions such as Kingdom of Heaven, Syriana and Pirates of the Caribbean among others. The auditions will be held at the ibis Hotel in Al Khuwayr on Wednesday from 11am to 4pm.
