Orlando FL– September 22 2015 – Turmeric is one of the most popular therapeutic spices nowadays. As a matter of fact it is a major ingredient of herbal companies who manufacture dietary supplements. The potential health benefits of this ancient medicinal spice have been widely studied and another scientific study reveals a finding that many people who use turmeric would be glad about.

Research highlights the positive effects of turmeric on diseased livers. The spice is popularized by its therapeutic ingredient called curcumin which is believed to have antibacterial antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Today many people are using curcumin supplements to improve their overall health.

“Curcumin supplements are very easy to incorporate in one’s daily diet or routine” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson Michelle O’Sullivan.

The new clinical trial in the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine has shed some light on the impressive liver-protective and regenerative properties of turmeric.

The Clinical Trial Center for Functional Foods Chonbuk National University Hospital’s South Korean researchers conducted research to test their hypothesis about turmeric having the ability to improve liver function. There were subjects who were 20 years old and above and who received a fermented form of turmeric. The participants were diagnosed with mild to moderate elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels which is a marker for damage or dysfunction in the liver.

The randomized study was conducted for 12 weeks and it involved the use of fermented turmeric powder. It was found that FTP reduced the ALT levels significantly in individuals who received the treatment. It was also found that it has been able to cause a reduction in serum asparate transaminase (AST) and gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT). The increase in the levels of these two enzymes was associated with liver damage.  The researchers also added that the therapeutic benefits continued while the subjects were on treatment and they also did not experience any side effects.

According to the study published in the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand turmeric has the potential to offer protection and regeneration to a diabetic liver. The database of GreenMedinfo.com also revealed 86 studies that demonstrated turmeric’s ability to offer protection to the liver against a variety of chemicals and drug exposures. Turmeric is also believed to have anti-liver cancer properties.

Today turmeric is widely used through curcumin supplements. There are many curcumin supplements available in the market today and it is imperative that consumers are able to choose only the best. Curcumin supplements with a bioavailability enhancer such as BioPerine are highly recommended by experts ().
