Saudi- No Nitaqat penalty for hiring up to 15 Yemenis
(MENAFN- Arab News) Firms would be allowed to hire 15 Yemeni workers without affecting their Nitaqat status the Ministry of Labor has announced according to media reports on Tuesday.
However the Yemeni workers must have travel documents approved by their embassy and register with the Saudi Labor Ministry.
They must have special visit visas issued by the Saudi Passport Department after recording their biometric details and undergoing a prescribed medical test.
Thousands of Yemenis recently gathered outside the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh to get documents from their embassy.
The concessions for Yemenis were announced in a royal decree last week with further details given on Monday by the Saudi labor and interior ministries.
The Yemen Consulate in Jeddah has reportedly started working with the Saudi Interior Ministry to help needy Yemeni workers. The consulate would first help illegal Yemeni workers who need to have their passports renewed and then those who do not have passports.
