Israel steps up air attacks on Gaza

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Israel stepped up air attacks on Gaza late on Tuesday directly hitting a three-storey building occupied by civilians inflicting casualties.

Palestinian radio stations said the building in Sheikh Radwan district in the north of Gaza city was hit with a couple of air-to-surface missiles.

Rescuers and medics aided at least 15 people who were wounded in this single attack as volunteers and workers sifted through rubble in search for victims.

An ambulance car was hit with a rocket in Jeher Al-Deek in south of the city. Five of its occupants were wounded.

A third air strike targeted a group of citizens at At-Atatrah in northern Gaza, amid reports about casualties, according to the radios. A four raid was on the shell-damaged Al-Aqsa television channel building.

The air attacks coincided with renewed artillery bombardment from emplacements circling the enclave. Shells crashed into Al-Buraij camp, Deir Al-Balah and some farming areas across Gaza.

Israeli warplanes are still roaring across the dark skies over Gaza as residents huddled indoors.

These attacks coincided with the firing of fresh salvos of rockets from Gaza on Israeli regions, and the dramatic escalation came shortly after talks between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in Cairo became deadlocked anew.
