Oman resident honoured for community service

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) PM Jabir, Indian Social Club (ISC) community welfare secretary, has been conferred with Media One Channel award for his contributions to the Indian community in Oman.

The award was recently presented by Media One Channel at a function in Sharjah, UAE, as part of its first anniversary celebrations.

Organisers said that more than 120 people were nominated for awards by viewers of Media One Channel. Among them, 22 were shortlisted, and, later, nine persons and two organisations were selected.

The award was presented to Jabir by Justin Antony, a senior official of Joyalukkas, and the citation was given by Salim Sadiq, marketing manager, of Media One channel.

Jabir has been helping the Indian community in Oman since 1982. He is also the convenor of ISC's Kerala wing.

''I have carried the grievances of hundreds of Indian expatriates to concerned authorities for redressal,'' Jabir said.
