UAE, Italy Discuss Boosting Joint Economic Cooperation


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, the Under Secretary for the Foreign Trade Sector at the UAE Ministry of Economy, has met with the Italian Deputy Minister Of Economic Development Carlo Calenda, to discuss means of enhancing ties of economic cooperation in all sectors between the two countries. During the meeting held on the sidelines of the 9th ministerial conference of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) now in progress here , the two UAE and italian officials hailed the level of economic relations between their countries with the non-oil trade volume reaching to seven billion dollars in 2012. They also discussed prospects of joint investment especially in the health sector through attracting more italian expertise in this regard. The two officials also underlined the importance of finalizing the GCC-EU free trade agreement in view of its economic positive repercussions on the member states of the two blocs. It is noted that Italy will be the next chairman of the European Union (EU) presidency where Italy will present plans of action to further enhance the GCC-EU relations at the economic, trade and investment levels.
