Iran Says It Struck Israeli Airbase with Missiles, Warns of Wider Response

(MENAFN) Iran said Sunday that it carried out a ballistic missile strike targeting Israel’s Ramat David Airbase, framing the operation as retaliation for Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs, according to reports.

Iran’s military stated that the airbase was previously used as a launching point for operations against Lebanon. The strike, it said, was conducted “in response to the massacres committed by the Zionist entity (Israel) against civilians in southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.”

The statement described the attack as a warning and accused both the United States and Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement reached on April 8. It also cautioned that any further escalation would trigger “a broader and more severe” Iranian response.

Military officials further warned that if Israel continues its strikes in Lebanon or retaliates against Iranian actions, missile attacks would continue.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also said that its acceptance of the April 8 ceasefire was conditional on a complete halt to hostilities across all fronts, alleging that neither Washington nor Israel upheld their commitments.

Iran’s message, as presented in the statement, emphasized that ongoing military actions could quickly expand the conflict further if no de-escalation occurs.
