Iran Says It Struck Source Of Attack In Hormozgan, Accuses U.S. Of Ceasefire Violations

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it launched an airstrike on what it described as the“source of aggression” targeting a telecommunications facility in Sirik district of Hormozgan province in southern Iran, according to Iranian state-affiliated media.

The semi-official Fars News Agency reported on Monday, June 1, that the operation was carried out earlier in the day. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said all pre-designated targets were destroyed during the strike.

According to the report, the IRGC said the operation was conducted in response to an attack on a telecommunications site in the Sirik area. However, it did not provide details about the exact location targeted or the extent of any damage caused by the strike.

The Revolutionary Guard also accused U.S. forces of committing“widespread violations” of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States. Iranian officials claimed that recent U.S. military activities in the region were inconsistent with the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

Fars did not specify which U.S. military base or facility was allegedly identified as the“source of aggression.” U.S. officials have not yet publicly responded to the allegations.

The development comes after international media reported the activation of air defense systems and warning sirens in Kuwait, raising concerns about the potential for renewed military escalation in the Gulf region.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly stressed the importance of preserving the ceasefire and preventing a broader regional conflict. However, Washington and Tehran continue to exchange accusations over actions they say threaten the stability of the truce.

Iran has maintained that it will respond to any attack or threat against its territory while also emphasizing that it seeks to preserve regional stability and avoid further escalation. Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that the continuation of the ceasefire depends on all parties fully adhering to their commitments.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington intensified following weeks of direct military confrontation and reciprocal strikes, which heightened concerns over the security of energy infrastructure and shipping routes in the Gulf.
