Czes TUBILEWICZ is a senior lecturer at the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Adelaide, Australia. His main research focuses on the international relations of East Asia. He has written on cross-Taiwan Strait relations, China's and Taiwan's foreign relations, the East China Sea crisis, and the United States subnational relations (paradiplomacy). He has authored American Paradiplomacy and Chinese Power: Demystifying US-China Subnational Relations (2025); (with Natalie Omond) The United States' Subnational Relations with Divided China: A Constructivist Approach to Paradiplomacy (2021), Chinese Constructions of Sovereignty and the East China Conflict (2020), Taiwan and Post-Communist Europe (2007), Taiwan and the Soviet Bloc, 1949-1991 (2005), edited Critical Issues in Contemporary China (2006, 2017 & 2025) and co-edited (with Andrew Rosser) a special issue on foreign aid in the Indo-Pacific (The Pacific Review, 2016). He has also published in Asian Survey, Australian Journal of International Affairs, Australian Journal of Political Science, China Quarterly, Contemporary Politics, Diplomacy & Statecraft, Europe-Asia Studies, International Relations of the Asia Pacific, Pacific Affairs, The Pacific Review, and The Russian Review. He teaches courses in Chinese politics, comparative politics and international relations theory.
