Four-Day Eid Closure Brings Trade And Travel To A Halt At Torkham

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Landi Kotal, pedestrian movement, trade activities, and passenger transportation through the border will remain suspended throughout the holiday period.
The administration also stated that the repatriation process of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan has been temporarily halted due to the closure.
Drivers transporting Afghan citizens and families have been advised to avoid traveling towards the Torkham border to prevent inconvenience and delays.

Officials said the closure is being implemented because of the official Eid- Adha holidays, while a formal announcement regarding the reopening of the border will be issued after the holidays.
Meanwhile, according to official sources, nearly 230,000 Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border over the past one month and twenty days under the government's repatriation policy.
The return process, which had been continuing regularly, has now been temporarily suspended due to the Eid holidays.
