Orthodox TV Launches Jordan, Land Of Love Operetta To Mark 80Th Independence Day
Amman, May 24 (Petra) -- The Orthodox TV Station launched on Sunday the operetta "Jordan, Land of Love" to celebrate the 80th Independence Day of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The event was held under the patronage of Patriarch Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine and Jordan, and attended by several bishops, official and military figures, and community leaders.
The ceremony, which took place following a grand celebratory prayer service, commenced with performances by the Orthodox scout bands in the Kingdom, alongside active participation from members of the General Secretariat of Orthodox Youth. This preceded the launch of the operetta, which was produced by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem as a gift to the nation on a patriotic occasion that embodies the values of pride in independence and the journey of the Jordanian state.
The artistic piece stands as one of the most prominent national church productions in the Kingdom, involving more than 300 volunteers, along with a selection of Jordanian artists and musicians. Through musical and artistic tableaus, the performance recalled bright milestones from Jordan's history and its cultural and spiritual heritage, reflecting the values of belonging, love, and pride in the nation and its Hashemite leadership.
The operetta transitioned between visual and lyrical scenes, addressing multiple national and historical phases. Among these was the tableau "In the Glory of the Hashemites," which embodied pride in the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, within an integrated artistic vision that highlighted Jordan's message of peace, tolerance, and coexistence.
The operetta was produced under the supervision of Archbishop Christoforos, written and composed by Mousa Al-Naber, with musical arrangement by Maestro Mourad Demirdjian. Lighting and cinematography were managed by Anas Al-Saqqa, and it was directed by Father Sophronios Hanna, with production management by Issa Khoury, executed by the "Orthodox TV Station" with the participation of the "Jordan Youth Drama Association." //Petra// AF
