Illegal Occult Compound Near Moscow Demolished After Court Ruling
(MENAFN) Authorities in Russia have begun dismantling an unauthorized structure in the Moscow region that had been widely referred to by residents and local media as an occult or “Satanic Temple,” according to reports.
The demolition followed a court decision declaring the three-story building illegal. The structure had reportedly served as the headquarters of a group known as the “Empire of the Strongest Witches,” and was located in Zaytsevo village near Zaraysk, about 120 kilometers south of Moscow. Officials determined that the 280-square-meter building had been constructed without the necessary permits on land designated for agricultural use.
The removal of the site began after local authorities enforced the ruling issued by the Zaraysk City Court. Residents in the area had previously submitted complaints about activities at the location, describing unusual gatherings and what they alleged were ritualistic practices, prompting further scrutiny by officials.
The building, constructed around 2019, was reportedly financed through contributions from followers of a woman known by an alias who led the group. She was described in reports as presenting herself as a spiritual or occult figure, offering services and teachings related to esoteric practices in exchange for payment.
She had previously claimed involvement in television programs featuring self-proclaimed psychics, although production representatives denied her participation. In addition to her activities at the compound, she was also associated with various esoteric ventures in the region, including an organization referred to in media accounts as a “magic” academy that did not operate as a formal educational institution.
Officials have not indicated any criminal charges beyond the zoning and construction violations that led to the demolition order.
