Explosions Hit Kyiv as Missile Strike Kills One, Injures Dozens

(MENAFN) A large-scale overnight attack involving missiles and drones struck Ukraine’s capital, leaving at least one person dead and 24 others injured, according to reports and city officials.

Explosions were reported in Kyiv after warnings from US and Ukrainian officials that Russia could be preparing a major missile strike following an order for retaliation by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to reports.

Vitali Klitschko said the strikes hit multiple locations across the city, including residential buildings, a student dormitory, a car service center, and a shopping mall. He confirmed that at least one person was killed and more than 20 were injured overnight.

In a later update, Klitschko said the number of injured rose to 24, including a 15-year-old boy, with three people reported in serious condition.

At least 13 of the injured were hospitalized, while emergency services continued to respond across affected areas.

Ukraine’s Air Force warned late Saturday of a possible launch of a medium-range ballistic missile known as “Oreshnik,” while Kyiv’s military administration described the situation as a “massive ballistic attack” and urged residents to take shelter as strikes continued.
