Trump Administration Tightens Green Card Rules For Foreign Nationals
According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), foreign nationals currently residing in the U.S. will generally no longer be allowed to apply for a Green Card while staying inside the country.
Instead, they will have to apply through the U.S. Department of State from abroad.

The new policy will apply to individuals in the U.S. on various non-immigrant visas, including international students, temporary workers, and tourists.
USCIS spokesperson Zach Kahler said that individuals with temporary residence status in the U.S. will be required to return to their home countries for Green Card applications, while adjustment of status within the U.S. will only be allowed in exceptional cases.
