After Tamil Nadu, Is Thalapathy Vijay's Next Political Darbar Set For Bengaluru?

After making waves in Tamil Nadu politics, Kollywood superstar Vijay's party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), is now reportedly preparing to expand its footprint into Karnataka. Political circles are abuzz with speculation that, after Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the party is planning to test its strength in Bengaluru's upcoming local body elections.

TVK Eyes Bengaluru Politics

With the proposed Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) elections expected to be announced soon, TVK has reportedly begun groundwork to field candidates in the city. Sources suggest the party is aiming to establish a presence in at least 50 of Bengaluru's 369 wards.

Focus On Tamil-Speaking Voters

TVK's strategy is believed to centre around wards with a significant Tamil-speaking population. Areas such as Srirampura, Halasuru, Shivajinagar, Vivek Nagar, Ejipura, Madiwala, and Shantinagar are said to be key targets for the party.

Reports indicate that several Vijay fans and local supporters in these regions are eager to contest the elections and are awaiting approval from the party leadership.

Vijay's Fan Base Could Be TVK's Strength

Beyond cinema, Vijay enjoys a massive fan following in Bengaluru, with many fan clubs actively involved in social service activities. Political observers believe TVK may leverage this strong grassroots network by giving tickets to dedicated fan club members, helping the party build an initial base in Karnataka.

Will Vijay Campaign In Bengaluru?

If the GBA elections are officially announced, there is growing speculation that Vijay himself could campaign in Bengaluru for TVK candidates. The actor-turned-politician, who has openly declared his political ambitions in Tamil Nadu, appears keen on connecting with Bengaluru's Tamil-speaking voters and extending his party's influence beyond state borders.

If TVK enters the Bengaluru civic polls, it would mark the first major direct attempt by a Tamil Nadu-based regional party to contest local elections in Karnataka's capital - a move that could potentially impact the political calculations of major parties like Congress, BJP, and JD(S).

With political excitement building, all eyes are now on whether TVK's Bengaluru experiment can turn Vijay's cinematic popularity into electoral success.
