Drone Strike From Lebanon Injures Two in Northern Israel

(MENAFN) Two people were injured in northern Israel on Tuesday after a drone launched from Lebanon struck a vehicle near the border, according to Israeli media reports.

The public broadcaster KAN reported that the incident occurred in the Misgav area close to the Lebanese frontier, where a drone impacted a civilian vehicle, resulting in injuries.

The Times of Israel, citing the Israeli military, said the drone was launched by Hezbollah and crossed into Israeli territory before hitting its target. The army did not immediately release detailed information on the extent of damage or the condition of the wounded.

According to reports, Hezbollah said a day earlier that it had carried out 11 drone and missile operations targeting Israeli military positions and vehicles in southern Lebanon and northern Israel, framing the attacks as retaliation for alleged ceasefire violations.

Israeli officials have expressed growing concern over the increasing use of drones by Hezbollah, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describing them as a serious threat requiring military countermeasures.

The incident occurs amid continued tensions despite a US-mediated ceasefire agreement announced in mid-April and later extended into July, which has faced repeated violations reported by both sides.

Lebanese authorities have stated that since March 2, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have resulted in more than 3,000 deaths, over 9,000 injuries, and large-scale displacement affecting more than 1.6 million people, roughly one-fifth of the population.
