Iran Reaffirms Diplomacy, Resistance to Pressure at BRICS Talks
(MENAFN) Iran’s foreign minister has reiterated that military force cannot resolve disputes involving Tehran, insisting the country will not concede to external pressure or threats, according to reports.
Speaking at a BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in India, Abbas Araghchi said Iran had faced what he described as repeated “illegal aggression” over the past year attributed to the US and Israel, as stated by reports citing Iranian media.
Under the meeting theme focused on resilience and cooperation, Araghchi framed the discussions against the backdrop of ongoing regional tensions linked to the US–Israeli confrontation with Iran, which began earlier in the year before entering a ceasefire phase.
He argued that Iran remains steadfast under pressure, stating that “it should now be clear to everyone that Iran is invincible, and whenever it is subjected to pressure, it emerges stronger and more united than before.”
According to reports, Araghchi also emphasized that while Iran is prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, it continues to support diplomatic engagement as a parallel track.
He added, “As I have repeatedly emphasized, there is no military solution to any issue related to Iran,” and stressed that Iran would respond to external pressure with what he described as respect rather than submission.
The Iranian foreign minister further warned that the country’s armed forces are prepared to respond decisively to any aggression, while simultaneously portraying Iran as a peace-oriented nation that does not seek conflict.
He maintained that Iran views itself as a victim in the current escalation, stating, “In this shameful situation, we are not the aggressors, but rather the wronged and violated party,” according to reports.
The remarks underscore Tehran’s dual messaging of deterrence and diplomacy as regional tensions continue to shape discussions among emerging economies at the BRICS forum.
