Iran Warns Countries Enforcing US Sanctions May Face Strait Of Hormuz Shipping Disruptions

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Iran warned on Sunday that countries enforcing United States sanctions against Tehran could face difficulties moving ships through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian media reports.

Tasnim News Agency quoted an Iranian military spokesperson as saying that governments cooperating with Washington's sanctions policy should expect consequences affecting maritime transit in the Gulf region.

The spokesperson said none of the“enemy's objectives” had been achieved during the recent conflict and claimed Iran's political and military structure remained stable despite weeks of fighting and regional tensions.

According to the report, the Iranian official said the United States failed to break what he described as Iran's resistance and was ultimately forced to accept a ceasefire arrangement after the escalation in hostilities.

The report added that Iran has continued strengthening its military capabilities and operational readiness during the ongoing ceasefire period while also reviewing the latest U.S. proposal aimed at ending the confrontation.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical energy shipping routes, with a significant share of global oil and liquefied natural gas exports passing through the narrow waterway connecting the Gulf to international markets. Any disruption in the area can rapidly affect global energy prices and commercial shipping operations.

Regional tensions sharply increased following the recent conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, which triggered missile exchanges, drone attacks and heightened military activity across parts of the Middle East. Several Gulf states also reported security threats and airspace disruptions during the escalation.

Western governments have repeatedly accused Iran of threatening maritime security in the Gulf and supporting armed groups across the region, allegations Tehran denies. Iranian officials have instead accused the United States and its allies of increasing instability through military deployments and sanctions pressure.
