International Unity Run Held In Kyiv To Mark Europe Day
"Hundreds of participants from Ukraine, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and other European countries joined to unite around European values, the idea of peace, support for the military, and to honor the memory of the Heroes who fought and continue to fight for freedom and independence," the statement said.
Participants from the Maidan movement, representatives of the families of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the Ministry of Defense, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR), servicemen, international partners, and children completed distances of 5 and 10 km, took part in Nordic walking, and ran a symbolic distance of 107 meters – corresponding to the number of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
The event was organized by the New Country Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Ukrainian Trident Charitable Foundation and the Shylovets Charitable Foundation.
"This run is not only about promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle; it is about unity of values and nations around peace, about preserving memory, and about calling for continued struggle. For the Maidan Museum, this is memory in action, engaging people in important steps for the freedom and independence of our country. We have been a long-term co-organizer of the 'I Honor the Warriors, I Run for the Heroes of Ukraine' event. For us, this is a continuation of our mission – to preserve, reflect on, and pass on the memory of the struggle for dignity, European and democratic values," said Ihor Poshyvailo, Director of the National Memorial Complex of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – Museum of the Revolution of Dignity.
On May 9, Ukraine is marking Europe Day simultaneously with the countries of the European Union.
