Telangana Sets Sights On Becoming Aerospace Hub, Nearly 1,500 Msmes Already In Defence Supply Chain


(MENAFN- KNN India) Hyderabad, May 9 (KNN) Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), in partnership with the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana, organised MSME Spark 3.0- Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing in Hyderabad on Friday.

It aimed to bring together over 400 policymakers, defence experts, startups, investors and MSMEs to explore opportunities in the sector.

Telangana Eyes Leadership In Aerospace Manufacturing

Minister of Irrigation, Food and Civil Supplies, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said Telangana is positioning itself as a national leader in aerospace and defence manufacturing and expressed confidence that the state will emerge as India's aerospace and defence capital by 2030.

He also highlighted the proposed TG Young University as a key initiative to strengthen skill development for the sector.

MSMEs Play Growing Role In Defence Supply Chain

He highlighted Hyderabad's cost competitiveness, strong research ecosystem and growing MSME base.

The minister said nearly 1,500 MSMEs in Telangana are already part of the aerospace and defence supply chain, supported by defence labs, research institutions and advanced manufacturing capabilities.

G. Satheesh Reddy, member, National Security Advisory Board and former Secretary, DDR&D, said the event coincided with the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor and credited Indian industries, particularly MSMEs, for supporting indigenous defence capabilities.

FTCCI President, R. Ravi Kumar said the conclave reflects FTCCI's focus on connecting MSMEs with emerging opportunities in aerospace and defence manufacturing under India's Atmanirbhar Bharat push.

Industry Leaders Discuss Funding, Procurement Opportunities

The event concluded with technical sessions on defence procurement, funding opportunities and entrepreneurial success stories, featuring speakers from organisations such as DRDO, Bharat Electronics Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited and Bharat Dynamics Limited.

The event comes amid rising momentum in Telangana's aerospace ecosystem, with firms such as ITP Aero recently announcing a Rs 453 crore manufacturing facility in Hyderabad and startups like Skyroot Aerospace expanding the state's space-tech footprint.
