Nvidia, Corning Partner to Expand US AI Manufacturing Capacity
(MENAFN) US chipmaker Nvidia and materials science company Corning have announced a long-term commercial and technology partnership aimed at expanding US-based manufacturing capacity for optical connectivity systems used in artificial intelligence infrastructure, according to a joint statement released Wednesday.
As stated by reports, the multiyear agreement focuses on scaling production of advanced fiber-optic and connectivity technologies needed for next-generation AI data centers.
Under the deal, Corning plans to increase its US optical connectivity manufacturing capacity by ten times and boost domestic fiber production by more than 50%, the companies said.
The expansion will include the construction of three advanced manufacturing facilities located in North Carolina and Texas, along with the creation of more than 3,000 high-paying jobs in the United States.
According to reports, the upgraded production capacity is intended to support hyperscale data centers that rely on Nvidia-accelerated computing systems, which require large-scale deployment of high-performance networking and optical technologies.
The companies noted that modern AI workloads depend on thousands of graphics processing units, significantly increasing demand for fast, high-bandwidth data transmission systems.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI is driving what he described as “the largest infrastructure buildout of our time,” emphasizing its role in reshaping manufacturing and strengthening supply chains within the United States.
