Texas Dual-Mall Shooting Kills Two, Injures Three
(MENAFN) A commercial dispute turned fatal Tuesday when gunfire tore through two separate shopping centers in the Texas city of Carrollton, claiming two lives and leaving three others hospitalized.
Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo confirmed the toll in a statement to reporters: "There are two confirmed deceased individuals, and three are in stable condition."
Authorities were quick to dispel fears of a broader threat, with Arredondo stressing that the attack was "not a random act." Investigators revealed the victims had arranged to meet the gunman for a "business purpose" before the confrontation turned violent.
Emergency units first rushed to Cape Town Plaza at approximately 9:57 a.m. local time (1457 GMT) following reports of an active shooting. The trail of violence did not end there — officers subsequently pursued the suspect to a second commercial site identified as Koreatown.
Plainclothes investigators deployed specialized police tracking technology to pinpoint the suspect's vehicle, triggering a short foot chase before authorities gained control of the situation, Arredondo said.
The alleged gunman, named as Seung Han, 69, was apprehended without resistance and is now in police custody.
The precise nature of the underlying business conflict remains under active investigation. Nevertheless, Arredondo moved to reassure the surrounding community, underscoring that no continuing danger to the general public has been identified.
