Death Toll in Lebanon Rises Amid Continued Israeli Attacks

(MENAFN) Lebanese authorities say the number of people killed in Israeli attacks has risen to 2,496 since March 2, with thousands more injured, as violence continues despite a declared ceasefire.

According to a report issued by Lebanon’s Disaster Risk Management Unit and cited by the National News Agency, five people were killed and six others wounded in the past 24 hours alone, pushing the cumulative toll higher.

Officials stated that the updated figures reflect ongoing casualties as well as newly recorded cases and the continued recovery of victims from earlier incidents.

The report indicates that the total number of injured has reached 7,725, while more than one million people have been displaced since the escalation began.

Authorities did not provide detailed methodology for how the updated figures were compiled.

Local sources and media reports suggest that the rising death toll also includes bodies recovered after earlier strikes, alongside newly confirmed injuries reported in recent days.

The update comes amid continued hostilities in the region despite a temporary ceasefire announced in mid-April, which was later extended but remains fragile in practice.

Since early March, cross-border attacks and retaliatory strikes have persisted, with Israeli operations continuing in parts of southern Lebanon, while armed responses have also been reported from Lebanese territory, further complicating efforts to stabilize the situation.
