Media Says WHCD Suspect Targeted Trump Administration Officials

(MENAFN) The man arrested in connection with Saturday night's security breach outside the White House Correspondents' Dinner told investigators he had set his sights on officials serving in President Donald Trump's administration, according to law enforcement sources.

Media reported Sunday, citing those sources, that the suspect — identified as Cole Allen — made the disclosure to authorities in the immediate aftermath of his arrest.

While Allen stopped short of naming Trump himself as a specific target, sources indicated he referenced "administration officials" in broad terms, leaving the precise scope of his intentions under active scrutiny.

Authorities have yet to formally confirm a motive, as the investigation remains ongoing.

The incident unfolded at the Washington Hilton Hotel — host venue of the annual dinner — triggering the emergency evacuation of Trump, first lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and a number of other senior administration figures from the premises.

Allen, 31, a resident of Torrance, California, is scheduled to appear before a federal district court on Monday for his arraignment. The FBI and additional law enforcement agencies remain involved in the continuing probe.
