Zelenskyy Signals Readiness for Trilateral Peace Talks in Azerbaijan

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv is prepared to take part in trilateral peace negotiations in the near future in Azerbaijan, provided that Russia demonstrates genuine willingness to pursue diplomacy, according to reports.

At a joint press briefing following talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Zelenskyy stressed that it is crucial for Russia to “find the strength to end this unjust war,” as stated by reports.

He also noted that Ukraine places strong importance on the involvement of international partners in facilitating any peace process, adding that the issue was discussed directly with Aliyev.

Zelenskyy further announced that six agreements covering multiple sectors, including security cooperation, were signed during their meeting in the northern Azerbaijani city of Gabala. He described the arrangements related to joint defense industry development as a “very serious step,” according to reports.

For his part, Aliyev said Ukraine and Azerbaijan are maintaining “serious cooperation,” which was reaffirmed during the visit. He added that the leaders also discussed expanding bilateral trade, currently valued at more than $500 million, as well as broader cooperation in the energy sector, according to reports.

Separately, US-mediated negotiations between Russia and Ukraine have taken place multiple times in recent months, but progress has reportedly stalled amid wider regional tensions linked to the Iran war, as stated by reports.
