Emirates Organized Over 40 Travel Rehearsal Globally For Children With Autism

Dubai: Emirates has strengthened its commitment to inclusive travel by organizing more than 40“Travel Rehearsals” for children and young adults with autism across the globe over the past year, supporting over 250 families.

Since April 2025, these sessions have been conducted in major cities including Dubai, London, Paris, Sydney, Toronto, Delhi, and Barcelona. The initiative allows participants to experience the full airport journey in a calm, structured environment-helping reduce anxiety and build confidence before actual travel.

Backed by extensive training, over 35,000 Emirates employees are now equipped to assist autistic passengers. The airline works closely with airport authorities, security agencies, and autism support organizations to ensure each rehearsal is safe and meaningful.

As the world's first autism-certified airline, Emirates recognizes that air travel can be overwhelming due to sensory triggers like crowds, noise, and unfamiliar procedures. Research shows 78% of families with autistic members hesitate to travel for these reasons.

During rehearsals, participants practice every step of the journey-from check-in and baggage drop to immigration and security screening. They receive mock boarding passes, interact with staff, and explore terminal environments such as shops and dining areas. In some locations, they even board real aircraft for a more realistic experience.

Through this initiative, Emirates is making travel more accessible and empowering families to fly with greater confidence.
