Zelensky Urges EU To Release €90 Billion Aid Package
Volodymyr Zelensky urged the European Union to release a €90 billion aid package, saying there is no longer any reason to keep the funds frozen.
Writing on X late Tuesday, Zelenskiy said the EU had asked Ukraine to restore the Druzhba oil pipeline, which he said had been damaged by Russia, and that Kyiv had fulfilled the requirement.
He expressed hope the EU would now honour its commitments and move forward with disbursing the agreed financial support.
Zelensky stressed that timely assistance remains critical for Ukraine's economic stability and its ability to sustain government functions amid ongoing pressures from the war.
The European Union has been one of Ukraine's largest financial backers since the start of the war with Russia, providing billions in macro-financial assistance, humanitarian aid and military support.
However, disbursement of some funds has faced delays linked to conditions on reforms, governance standards and infrastructure requirements set by EU institutions.
Ukraine's economy continues to face severe strain due to prolonged conflict, with infrastructure damage, energy disruptions and budget deficits increasing reliance on external financial support.
Officials in Kyiv have repeatedly warned that delays in aid could impact essential services and recovery efforts, particularly as the war shows no immediate sign of ending.
