HDFC Life Reappoints Vibha Padalkar As MD & CEO For 5-Year Term
The decision was approved by the company's Board of Directors at its meeting, following a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Padalkar's new tenure will commence on September 12, 2026, and will run for five years, subject to approvals from shareholders at the upcoming Annual General Meeting as well as the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India.
"Based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration
Commitee, the Board of Directors of the Company has considered and approved the re-appointment of Vibha Padalkar as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of the Company for a period
of 5 (five) years with effect from September 12, 2026," it said in its exchange filing.
The reappointment underscores leadership continuity at one of India's largest private life insurers. Padalkar has been leading HDFC Life since 2018 and has been associated with the company since 2008, during which she has held multiple senior leadership positions.
During her tenure, the company achieved several key milestones. She played a pivotal role in HDFC Life's successful listing on Indian stock exchanges in 2017 and guided the firm through what was described as the first merger and acquisition transaction in India's life insurance sector, marking a significant development for the industry.
A dual-qualified Chartered Accountant, Padalkar is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Her leadership has earned widespread recognition, including being named 'Businesswoman of the Year' at The Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence 2025. She has also featured consistently in Fortune India's 'Most Powerful Women in Business' list from 2021 to 2025.
