South Korea’s Leader Calls Mideast Stability Crucial for Global Security
(MENAFN) According to reports, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said on Monday that restoring peace and stability in the Middle East is “crucial” for both global security and the international economy.
As stated by reports, Lee made the remarks following a summit in New Delhi hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting took place during Lee’s three-day visit to India, marking the first visit by a South Korean president to the country in eight years.
Reports indicate that both leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East and agreed that stabilizing the region is essential for broader global security and economic stability. They also pledged continued cooperation on international issues.
Lee noted that discussions included ongoing tensions in the region, which have intensified following recent conflicts involving the United States and Israel and their impact on Iran.
According to reports, both sides also acknowledged that a temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran is nearing its end.
As stated by reports, Modi emphasized that in a period of global uncertainty, India and South Korea aim to promote a shared message of peace and stability.
The summit also produced economic agreements, with both countries setting a target to expand bilateral trade to $50 billion by 2030, up from the current level of about $27 billion.
Reports indicate that the leaders described the agreement as laying the groundwork for stronger economic cooperation and future growth over the next decade.
