Trump's 'Favorite' Field Marshal: Asim Munir In Global Spotlight Amid US-Iran Tensions

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) U.S. President Donald Trump's reportedly favored Field Marshal Asim Munir has recently become the focus of global media attention, particularly due to his efforts to help ease tensions between Iran and the United States.

The Abu Dhabi-based newspaper The National also referred to him as“Trump's favorite field marshal,” noting that Pakistan's peace efforts have elevated Asim Munir's profile on the international stage.

He is working alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to help reduce tensions between the U.S. and Iran-developments that have significant implications for the global economy and energy supply.

According to the report, during a meeting at the White House last year, Donald Trump described Asim Munir as his“favorite field marshal.” In addition, he has been awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal by Saudi Arabia.

The report further states that Asim Munir previously served as head of Pakistan's two major intelligence agencies, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence. Following a brief aerial standoff with India last year, he was promoted to the rank of field marshal.

The newspaper added that this promotion was in recognition of his military leadership, bravery, and role in strengthening Pakistan's defense. The U.S. president also described him as an“extraordinary personality.”
