According to the report, during a meeting at the White House last year, Donald Trump described Asim Munir as his“favorite field marshal.” In addition, he has been awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal by Saudi Arabia.
The report further states that Asim Munir previously served as head of Pakistan's two major intelligence agencies, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence. Following a brief aerial standoff with India last year, he was promoted to the rank of field marshal.
The newspaper added that this promotion was in recognition of his military leadership, bravery, and role in strengthening Pakistan's defense. The U.S. president also described him as an“extraordinary personality.”
