Iran’s Mashhad Airport Resumes International Flights

(MENAFN) Iran's Civil Aviation Authority announced Sunday that international flights will resume operations at Mashhad International Airport in the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi beginning Monday, marking a gradual restoration of the country's civilian aviation network.

In a statement posted to its official website, the authority confirmed the move follows a broader decision to reopen eastern Iranian airspace to international traffic. Several airports had already partially resumed operations at 7 a.m. local time (0330 GMT) on Saturday.

Domestic flight ticket sales, however, remain suspended, with no authorization yet issued for their resumption.

Iran's airspace was shut down entirely following joint U.S. and Israeli strikes that began on Feb. 28, bringing civilian aviation across the country to a complete standstill.

The authority noted that a full return to normalcy across Iranian airports will be phased in gradually, contingent on the completion of technical and operational readiness assessments by both military and civilian bodies.
