N. Korea Launches Multiple Short-Range Ballistic Missiles Toward East Sea
(MENAFN) According to reports from South Korea and Japan, North Korea launched multiple short-range ballistic missiles on Sunday toward the East Sea, in its latest show of military activity.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles were detected as being fired from the Sinpho area at around 6:10 a.m. local time, with the projectiles traveling approximately 140 kilometers before landing.
Officials noted that this marks the seventh missile test carried out by North Korea in 2026, and the fourth during the month of April.
The South Korean military stated that it is closely tracking North Korean movements in coordination with the United States under a joint defense framework, maintaining readiness to respond to any potential provocations.
Intelligence agencies in South Korea and the US reportedly monitored the launch in real time and shared information with Japanese authorities.
Japan’s defense authorities confirmed that the missiles appeared to have fallen outside the country’s exclusive economic zone, with no damage reported.
Seoul strongly condemned the launch, calling it a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions and urging an immediate end to such activities.
The latest missile activity follows a similar launch earlier in April, as tensions on the Korean Peninsula continue amid ongoing military demonstrations by Pyongyang.
