Israeli Soldier Dies After Wounds from Southern Lebanon Explosion
(MENAFN) The Israeli military has confirmed that a soldier who was injured in an explosion in southern Lebanon on Friday has died from his wounds.
In a statement on Saturday, the army said Warrant Officer (res.) Barak Kalfon, 48, “died of wounds sustained during combat in southern Lebanon” after a reserve paratroopers unit “triggered an explosive device during an operation.”
Kalfon was identified as serving in “a fighter in the 7056th Battalion of the 226th Brigade,” according to the military.
The army also said that three additional soldiers were injured in the same incident.
The explosion occurred during operational activity in southern Lebanon, though further details about the circumstances were not immediately provided.
