UP Cop Viral Video: Sub-Inspector Found Drunk, Semi-Naked On VIP Duty During CM Event, Suspended

A sub-inspector in Muzaffarnagar was suspended after a viral video showed him drunk and semi-naked during duty at CM Yogi Adityanath's event. The officer, Chaube Singh, was assigned VIP security but was found behaving erratically at another location.

A sub-inspector in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar has been suspended after a video showed him in a drunken state during duty hours at a high-security event. The incident took place during Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's programme on Monday.

The suspended officer, Chaube Singh, was posted at Fugana police station. Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma ordered the action, citing indiscipline and negligence of duty, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar.

According to officials, Chaube Singh was found near the family compound inside the Tehsil Sadar premises. He was reportedly in an intoxicated state and partially undressed.

In the viral video, he is seen rolling on the ground and repeatedly asking,“Where am I standing?” His uniform was also in poor condition, which added to the shock among people present at the scene.

The incident created a stir at the venue, where security arrangements were supposed to be tight.

Police said the sub-inspector had been assigned VIP security duty in the Khalapar police station area for the Chief Minister's visit. However, instead of reporting to his duty point, he was found in this condition at another location.

The video quickly spread on social media, leading to embarrassment for the police department. Officials admitted that the incident damaged the force's image.

Circle Officer (CO) Fugana, Yatendra Nagar, said that such negligence during duty is taken very seriously. He confirmed that a departmental inquiry has been started, the Dainik Bhaskar report added.

Officials also said the case is being examined in detail to understand how such a lapse happened during a high-alert situation.

The incident has raised serious questions about security arrangements. At the time, the district administration had claimed“high alert” and“three-layer security” for the Chief Minister's visit.

However, this episode has put those claims under scrutiny and sparked debate about discipline within the police force.

The viral video triggered a wave of reactions online. Some users made jokes about the officer's condition, while others criticised the lack of discipline.

One user sarcastically asked whether he should be called“Chaube Ji or Babu Saheb”. Another wrote that such incidents bring disrepute to the police department.
