Israeli Minister Says Iran Can Be Hit "If There Is No Deal"

(MENAFN) Israeli cabinet members issued stark warnings Sunday over a potential renewed military campaign against Iran, as diplomats from Tehran and Washington wrapped up a marathon negotiating session in Pakistan without breakthrough.

Energy Minister Eli Cohen signaled that military action remains firmly on the table, telling Israeli media: "The nuclear issue is international, and it's good that (US President Donald) Trump has set the red lines on the issue."

"If there is no deal, Iran can be hit," he added.

Cohen further escalated his rhetoric on Lebanon, where Israeli forces have intensified operations, calling for strikes beyond military targets. "I have said this in the cabinet. I do not see a high chance of success for these negotiations," he said — even as Tel Aviv and Beirut confirmed their first Washington meeting, scheduled for April 14, aimed at brokering a ceasefire and opening direct negotiations.

Economy Minister Nir Barkat, speaking to a news channel, doubled down on military resolve, warning that Iranian leadership was miscalculating Western intent. "The Iranian officials do not understand the determination of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu," he argued. "We will return to war and achieve its objectives."

Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zoha echoed that position on X, the social media platform owned by the American company, claiming Washington's "insistence on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons reflects coordination with Israel."

The warnings come against a catastrophic humanitarian backdrop — more than 3,300 people have been killed in US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran since February 28. Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf states hosting US military assets before both sides entered a fragile two-week ceasefire declared earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Iranian and American delegations concluded 21 hours of talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, early Sunday with no agreement reached.
