Jordan, Syria Trade Unions Talk Future Cooperation, Projects

Amman, April 9 (Petra) –President of General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU),Khaled Fanatseh, met with Ahmed Younes, President of Syrian General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU), and his accompanying delegation, to discuss joint cooperation avenues and ways to develop mutual union-based work.
This effort aims to improve the work environment and the conditions of the two countries' workers.
During a meeting held on Wednesday at the GFJTU's headquarters, Fanatseh emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries' trade unions, which strengthens joint Arab action and serves the interests of the working class.
Fanatseh also stressed the "deep-rooted" trade union relations between Jordan and Syria.
During the visit, a cooperation protocol was signed by Jordan's General Trade Union of Workers in Air Transportation and Tourism (GUATT) and its Syrian counterpart, aimed to strengthening joint relations and developing mechanisms for joint work.
The protocol featured expertise exchange, a vision to organize joint training programs and workshops, implement awareness initiatives to enhance labor culture, activate cooperation in the tourism sector, and support and develop air transport sector.
Under the protocol, the two sides will hold regular meetings and explore opportunities for future agreements that serve mutual interests.
Concluding the meeting, the two sides exchanged commemorative plaques, affirming the "strength of brotherly" trade union relations and their shared desire to further develop these ties in the coming period.
