BANGKOK, April 9 (NNN-Bernama) - Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Thursday delivered his government's policy statement to Parliament, focusing on immediate economic relief from the global energy crisis while laying the groundwork for long-term structural reforms.

Anutin outlined a vision centred on safeguarding the monarchy, upholding democratic governance with the King as Head of State, and adhering to the rule of law and good governance for the benefit of the people.

He said the government had previously introduced urgent“Quick Big Win” measures, but now faces heightened global uncertainty due to conflicts in West Asia affecting the global economy, trade, and energy supplies, including those of Thailand.

“Now that the government has fully assumed office, it will accelerate the implementation of its commitments to the people, making the most effective use of available resources within fiscal discipline while maintaining flexibility to respond to potential future emergencies,” he said.

Anutin emphasised that the Bhumjaithai Party-led government would shield citizens and businesses from volatility in global oil and natural gas prices, exacerbated by ongoing conflict and disruptions to key maritime routes in West Asia.

Immediate actions include assisting vulnerable groups, stabilising the prices of essential agricultural and industrial supplies, and accelerating the disbursement of the 2026 fiscal budget to inject liquidity.

He said preparations are also underway for the 2027 Budget Act, with a focus on reducing non-essential government expenditure that does not contribute to national development goals.

The prime minister also introduced a strategic shift in public administration, moving towards an integrated“cluster-based” system that emphasises performance-based targets and key performance indicators to enhance public well-being.

“The government will act as a facilitator for the private sector and the public, while transitioning towards a fully digital government system to enhance transparency and efficiency,” he said.

Anutin also outlined a comprehensive policy framework to strengthen domestic resilience and boost global confidence, covering the economy, foreign affairs and security, social development, disaster and environmental management, and public administration reform.

He also pledged to accelerate the digitalisation of public services, including the introduction of a“super licence” law within 180 days to streamline business approvals, as well as an“omnibus law” within one year to repeal outdated regulations that hinder economic growth.

“I will do everything in my power to ensure Thailand is strong from within, that Thai people can stand on their own feet, that the economy remains competitive, and that the world has confidence in Thailand,” he said.

The 59-year-old Bhumjaithai Party leader was re-elected for a second term as prime minister in a parliamentary vote in March and now heads a 16-party coalition supported by around 293 legislators in the 500-member House of Representatives after his party's February general election win.
