Zelensky Signals Imminent Trilateral Talks To End Ukraine War, Format Still Unclear

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this during the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ending the war and achieving peace in Ukraine is the number one issue and the number one task for me, for our negotiating team, and for Ukraine as a whole. We are currently engaged in a trilateral process of various agreements. Due to the war in the Middle East, our meetings were postponed. The latest one took place in a video format. There was a conversation with representatives of the U.S. President's team and we agreed that in the near future there will be a trilateral meeting, or there will be a format where the American team comes to us and then likely travels to our neighbors,” Zelensky said.

According to him, work is currently underway to refine the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine, as key questions remain unresolved: how to finance the Ukrainian army after the war, how to obtain air defense systems that are important for both European and Middle Eastern countries, and“the most difficult question – the response of the United States of America to renewed aggression by Russia, should such aggression occur.”

As previously reported by Ukrinform, another round of trilateral talks took place in Geneva on February 16-17. Following the meeting, Zelensky said there had been progress on military issues, particularly monitoring the ceasefire, while positions remained different on political issues – territories, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and other sensitive matters.
