I am a father, husband, and Roman Catholic scholar teaching at a Jesuit college in Massachusetts, USA. My teaching and research cover Comparative Religions, global Catholicism, Catholic theology and spirituality, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Jehovah's Witnesses. I am the founding editor of the Journal of Global Catholicism, author of Mercy Matters: Opening Yourself to the Life Changing Gift (OSV, 2016), and co-editor of Engaging South Asian Religions: Boundaries, Appropriations, and Resistances (SUNY, 2012). I am on the editorial boards of Christian Higher Education; Asian Horizons; and Brill Publisher's book series on Global Catholicism. I have published opinion pieces in the Washington Post, Newsweek, Salon, Fortune, Commonweal Magazine, The National Catholic Reporter, and US News and World Report. I have also provided expert commentary to USA Today, The New York Times, ABC's Good Morning America, NPR, CNBC, BBC, Agence France-Presse, Hardball with Chris Matthews, and FoxNewsRadio. I lived for four years in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, speak Hindi/Urdu fluently along with some Bengali, Bhojpuri, and Sinhala. With my family, I also care for a demanding pot-bellied pig named "Half-Pint."
