Iranian Hackers Claim Breach of Former Israeli Army Chief’s Phone

(MENAFN) An Iranian hacking group claimed Thursday it successfully infiltrated the personal device of former Israeli military chief Herzi Halevi, allegedly extracting thousands of highly sensitive images and videos from within Israel's most secretive command circles.

The group, known as Handala, published a statement on its website asserting it had maintained covert, undetected access to Halevi's device for years — a claim that, if verified, would represent one of the most significant intelligence breaches in Israeli military history.

"During all this time, more than 19,000 confidential images and videos from the most secret meetings of Halevi have been extracted and archived," the group stated.

Handala alleged the trove of stolen material encompasses images of senior military commanders, operational facilities, strategic maps, and records of internal high-level discussions. The group warned the data would be released in a deliberate, staged manner designed to maximize impact.

"Every face, every commander, and every criminal pilot, clear and unblurred, are in our hands and will be revealed one by one when the time is right," it said.

The group further claimed to have sustained active surveillance access to additional senior Israeli commanders beyond Halevi, suggesting the breach extends well beyond a single device.

"Every moment, every decision, every conversation is being watched; only the time to expose them has not yet arrived," it said.

In a more personal and provocative aside, Handala added that one video shows Halevi "caught hiding under a table, trying to scare his wife -- and failed even at that."

Israeli authorities had not issued any official response to the claims at the time of publication.
