Israeli Airstrikes Hit Lebanon

(MENAFN) The Israeli military launched strikes on more than 100 locations “within 10 minutes” across Lebanon, describing the operation as the “largest” synchronized assault since the ongoing campaign in the country began, according to a statement issued Wednesday.

In its announcement, the army stated that the bombardments focused on positions associated with Hezbollah in several regions, including Beirut, the Beqaa Valley, and southern parts of Lebanon.

Officials further asserted that the targeted locations comprised command-and-control hubs along with additional facilities allegedly utilized to carry out attacks against Israeli interests.

Hezbollah has not issued any immediate response regarding the Israeli allegations.

These developments occurred only hours after the United States and Iran revealed a two-week ceasefire agreement on Tuesday, intended to facilitate negotiations toward a comprehensive deal to conclude the conflict initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran on Feb. 28, a confrontation that has resulted in thousands of casualties, both dead and injured.

According to Pakistani intermediaries, the truce extends to Lebanon; however, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected that claim. Despite ongoing Israeli strikes, Hezbollah has thus far complied with the ceasefire terms.

Lebanese outlets reported that at least eight individuals lost their lives and 22 others sustained injuries following an Israeli attack on the southern city of Sidon on Wednesday, shortly after the truce declaration.
