Türkiye, Pakistan Hold Talks on Iran War

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Ishaq Dar held urgent talks on Tuesday regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran, according to sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

During the phone call, the ministers "exchanged views on the diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing an end to the war that began with attacks by the US and Israel against Iran."

Earlier in the day, Pakistan called for "time and space" to allow diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate the rapidly worsening Middle East crisis.

The discussions unfolded just hours before the expiration of a chilling warning from US President Donald Trump, who declared that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” prompting intense speculation as his 8 p.m. Eastern Time (0000GMT Wednesday) deadline regarding Iran neared.

The broader region has remained on high alert since Israel and the US launched a sustained offensive against Iran on February 28.

In response, Tehran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US forces, resulting in casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
