A/Prof. Mohi Ahmed has been educating the next generation of cyber leaders and researching to disrupt the cybercrime ecosystem. His research is based on three pillars: (1) Offensive Security & Ransomware Resilience, (2) Cyber Governance, and (3) Data Analytics. He is driven to ensure national security and safeguard critical infrastructures from cyber terrorists. Mohi secured several external and internal grants worth more than $2 Million and has been collaborating with academia and industry. He has been regularly invited to speak at international conferences, government agencies and public organizations. He regularly appears on national and international media (newspapers, radio and TV), commenting on cyber issues with a global audience reach of more than a billion people. His contributions, as published in The Conversation, have reached over one million readers worldwide. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Distinguished Member of the European Alliance of Innovation and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. He also served as an ACM Distinguished Speaker. ScholarGPS ranked him as a highly ranked lifetime scholar in the speciality of Anomaly Detection and has been listed in the world's Top 2% of scientists by Stanford University. Dr Ahmed is nationally recognised as a 2025 Western Australian Young Tall Poppy, Finalist for 2023 Australian Information Security Association Awards (2023 Cyber Security Researcher of the Year) and Australian AI Awards (2025 Academic of the Year).
