JFZIC, Korean Delegation Discuss Vehicle Conformity Procedures
The meeting reviewed the latest developments related to the issue, as well as measures taken in cooperation with relevant authorities in both countries, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
JFZIC Vice President Amer Jayousi said that the meeting was held at an“important” time, in light of the challenges facing the vehicle import sector.
He noted that the discussions went over the steps taken by the embassy, the Korean trade office and the commission, including consultations with the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organisation and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, to examine the possibility of recognising the Korean certificate of conformity for imported vehicles.
Speaking during the meeting, Jayousi said that the Korean side presented the results of technical work comparing the specifications of Korean vehicles with those of vehicles imported from the US and Europe, in a move that could support their recognition under Jordan's existing regulatory framework.
He added that the discussions also addressed the main obstacles affecting the smooth flow of imports, most notably high shipping costs, supply chain disruptions, and visa-related challenges facing traders wishing to travel to South Korea, all of which have contributed to higher operational costs.
